Welcome to Visit Blackwater Region

The Blackwater Region is the meeting point for the counties of Tyrone, Armagh and Monaghan. It is a cross border region between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The area can only be appreciated on a cross border basis and includes the catchment of the River Blackwater, the route of the Ulster Canal and the upland region of Sliabh Beagh, an environmental treasure and designated a Natura 2000 site of international environmental importance.

The area is a dispersed rural area made up of villages and rural communities with a strong sense of place and pride in local heritage and customs.

It is a hidden treasure … well worth a visit.
